THE return of the Friday night schedule for Rochester’s Great Northern Show proved a great success at the weekend with attendance up by a third from 2019.
Food trucks, rides and a whip cracking demonstration were topped off by a spectacular firework show.
On Saturday the showgrounds were abuzz with dogs, cows, horses and more waiting for their moment to shine.
Show committee president Scott Somerville said entries this year were fantastic.
“It was a very strong competition, particularly in the beef show the numbers were huge,” he said.
“We’re very lucky we’ve got tremendous sponsors, volunteers and committee — without them it wouldn’t happen.”
The homecrafts pavilion was filled to the brim with kids’ crafts, deftly knitted garments and home-baked goods galore, while dog breeds large and small were looking their best as their proud owners led them around the show ring.
