Tatura Rotary supports swim

MS 24-Hour Mega Swim community host Damien Stevens with Rotary Club of Tatura members Jo Burgess and Carol Neave.

The Rotary Club of Tatura was delighted to support Shepparton’s MS 24-Hour Mega Swim at Aquamoves in February.

The event started with a bang, with City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Kim O’Keeffe initiating the starting horn, where a member of each team entered the pool.

‘‘It’s a fantastic initiative to bring the community together to raise funds and a way of supporting the people in the community who have loved ones with MS,’’ Cr O’Keefe said.

The fundraiser’s ninth event was successfully run by community host Damien Stevens.

‘‘We were grateful to have a bigger swim happening this year with over 70 swimmers registered and eight teams, so the pool was full,’’ Mr Stevens said.

Rotary Club of Tatura donated $500 to the cause and was delighted to be involved on the day.

‘‘This is a cause close to our hearts with many members having personal experience with the illness,’’ Tatura Rotary secretary Jo Burgess said.

‘‘It’s also good to know the money stays locally.’’
