A KYABRAM man is in custody after a high-speed traffic incident in Echuca west this morning.
Echuca’s Sergeant John Trebilcock said police observed a vehicle driving at high speeds on the Mitiamo-Echuca Rd near the Cantwell Rd intersection about 8.15am.
‘‘Police have attempted to intercept the vehicle and it’s taken off,’’ he said.
Sgt Trebilcock said the Mitsubishi sedan was driving at ‘‘reckless speeds’’ between 120-150km/h for about 1km before experiencing mechanical failure.
‘‘He’s got out of the vehicle and run across the paddock and was subsequently arrested by the divie van,’’ he said.
The 39-year-old man is in custody at Echuca police station where he is being processed for traffic offences, reckless conduct and outstanding warrants.
A 32-year-old Cohuna woman, who was also in the car, is helping police with their inquiries.
