Berrigan's Under 17s netballers capped off a stellar 2020 Picola & District League season with a 27 goal win in their grand final on Saturday.
The Saints faced off against the Deni Rovers in the decider at Memorial Park in Deniliquin.
It was an outstanding finish to the year by a group of individually talented girls who came together in six weeks to make a great team.
Lily Sharp still dominated in the centre and with Mackenzie Hannan and Cody Pfeiffer bringing their A-game, the Saints were strong and confident.
Local Saints Shae Fennell and Regan Fox worked well at opposite ends of the court with nerves of steel and fresh legs in Shiane and Charlie Mason brought big impact to the side when needed.
League MVP Ruby Russell missed very few shots and brilliant defense by Rose Chamberlain completed a side that made their coach proud.
For the Rovers, captain Edwina Barclay led the defensive end worked tirelessly to turn the ball over.
Charlotte Strong had a ripper of a game, playing smart netball and Sienna Jenkins was on a mission, rising to the challenge of playing on a very physical and older opponent.
Georgia McCulloch also supported Sienna well in WA, however the Saints proved too strong for the Roos.
Final score, Berrigan 55 to Deni Rovers 28.
Unfortunately for the Under 13s they were unable to overcome the undefeated Rovers in their grand final.
Both sides came to this decider taking nothing for granted and the pace was fast from the first whistle.
Deni gained an early lead and finished the first ahead by five and moved a little further away to be up by 10 at half time despite tight and skillful defense by the Saints.
The second half was an even battle between the two sides with Berrigan giving their all to do more than just hold the Rovers .
Unfortunately it was not enough to overcome an experienced Rovers team.
Berrigan coaches Sophie Willow and Em Ryan praised the Saints post-match for an incredible effort in coming together and achieving such success in a short time.
All girls have finished the competition with pride and are looking forward to hopefully a longer season in 2021.
Final score, Deni Rovers 27 to Berrigan 17.
