Women’s golf

By Tatura Guardian

The first golfing day of the winter season was played in fine, cool conditions. The not so popular Par event was sponsored by W.B. Hunter, of Tatura.

Sheryl Curran had the best score of the day to win A-grade with +1. Runner-up was Mandy McGrath with square.

Melody Barratt, from King Island, a guest of Rita Fairchild, took a liking to our course, scoring -2 to win B-grade. Runner-up was Pat Serra with -5.

Ball Winners: Robyn Downs and Phyl Fiddes -2, Deb Reilly, Lyn Fanning and Terri Wangeman -4.

Nearest-the-pins: 3rd Blossoms with Love, Melody Barrett, who will be busy shopping to recoup her prizes before returning home; 9th Café Alofa, Mandy McGrath; 14th One4One Café, Robyn Downs.

Nine-hole competition: Joyce Tavener won a ball for her win with -1.

Pennant dinner: On Wednesday evening the pennant girls and members enjoyed dinner together to celebrate the end of the winter season of pennant.

Presentation night: Members are encouraged to come to the presentation evening on Saturday June 15; book a table or just come and join in the fun.

On a somewhat sad note, next week will be the final print of the Tatura Guardian. The golf notes can be read in the Shepparton News each following week.

Wednesday’s event: Stroke; Monthly Medal, sponsors: Drummond Golf and Newton’s Parcel Service, Hill Top Brooch; second round Mona McLeod.

Nine-hole competition: Stroke, back nine.
